Studies

The New England Centenarian Study is actually comprised of several currently ongoing studies. The first, the Centenarian Prevalence Study, is a population-based study of all centenarians living within an eight town area surrounding Boston, Massachusetts. The second, the Population Genetics Study, analyzes the pedigrees of centenarians to determine if extreme longevity is more prevalent among these families. In our third study, the Extreme Longevity in Families Study, we are locating and verifying families with many members who have reached extreme age. Our fourth study, the Centenarian Sibling Pair Study, is an examination of centenarian sibling pairs and potentially genes they may have in common that could influence the ability to achieve extreme old age.

Finally, we are conducting a nationwide search for centenarians to participate in our longevity-enabling-gene study. If you or a family member(s) could be eligible to participate in one of our studies, please contact us.
