Creutzfeld-Jakob disease

The patient was a 51 year old woman with a history of rapidly progressive cognitive impairment and ataxia of gait. She developed intermittant jerking motions of both arms and legs, and expired 4 months after the first symptoms developed. MR images revealed increased signal in basal ganglia, which worsened over the two month time interval between images. To see this, use the timeline arrow buttons. Diagnosis at biopsy was Creutzfeld-Jakob disease.
