INTRODUCTION TO IMAGE PROCESSING

FOR NUCLEAR MEDICINE RESIDENTS

Document prepared July 24, 1996;

REFERENCE: JA Parker in "Image Reconstruction in Radiology" (CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL, 1990).

This lecture is meant to be an introduction to such concepts as: convolution, complex numbers, Fourier transforms, and sampling. Because this lecture is limited to a one hour presentation, many concepts will be introduced at a necessarily shallow level. Greater depth will be presented in the Physics and Image Processing courses later in the year.
