Positron-emitting isotopes to use for 511 keV testing:
- 18F (need cyclotron within 200 miles)
- 68Ge (270.8 d) - analogous to 57Co used for 99mTc QC
- 22Na (has a 1.2 MeV photon)
- 26Al (only small amounts available and very expensive)
Other isotopes to use for high-energy testing:
- 85Sr (64.84 d) ; has a 514 keV gamma-ray with a 98.3% abundance
- 87mSr (2.81 h) ; has a 388 keV gamma-ray with a 82.3% abundance
